Setting your dog up for success starts with you

Focusing on You so You Can Focus On Your Dog

01 — Make Sure To Have Fun

Training your dog can be stressful. It has its ups and downs whether it is puppy training, obedience based, resource guarding, reactivity etc. Make sure you are in a good mindset prior to training and know when to stop if you feel you are done.

Tips for enjoying your training session:

  • Know what you want to work on prior to starting.

  • Take some deep breaths before hand and have some “me” time.

  • Play some fun up beat music during your lessons.

  • Plan for a fun decompressing activity for you and your dog after like fetch, going for a drive or walk.

02 — Video Your Training

Filming your training sessions are great for many reasons. They are not only great to send to me between lessons for feedback and advice, but to have for yourself for review. Watching your own training videos are a great way to track your progress and to see how you and your dog are working together.

03 — Health

In the private Canine Coaching Program we look at and discuss your dogs health. We discuss nutrition, weight loss, exercise, stress management etc. Not only is this important for your dog but yourself as well. Eating well, sleeping well and managing stress are all big contributors to how we feel. We all learn better when we feel better.

04 — Leadership

Training our dog can be more trying on our leadership skills and confidence then we may think. Whether it is advocating for our dogs space, asking the hard hitting questions, helping teach those around you what your dog needs it all comes into play. Through the program we will discuss this and I will help you to become a more confident leader for your dog.
